At the Fishing show which was held in Glasgow the Fisherman’s Mission and Crew2crew.com organized the Fisherman of the Year competition. The participants were to mend a net, do a splice, answer questions and put on a life jacket.
There were four participans who had made it to the final and the fastest one to finish all the tasks was John Buchan, skipper on the Ocean Venture from Peterhead.
John Buchan was granted with prizes worth £5500 and where the top prize was a trip to the Faroe Islands to participate in the Vónin World Net-Mending Championship, which is going to by held at the annual Fisherman’s Day in Klaksvík on the 21st of August.
