Nearly 11,500 tonnes of fish was landed at Peterhead Scotland’s main fishing port during the month of May, new figures from harbour bosses at the north-east reveal. Peterhead Authority said last month’s haul was worth £8.64 million. In May 2009, 5,350 tonnes worth £6.1 million was landed at the port. Last month’s tonnage included 4,201 tonnes of whitefish, 453 of shellfish and 6,765 of herring and “others”.
With well supplied white fish markets at Peterhead last week the fleet benefited from settled weather. But some prices were lower than they have been recently, most met with buyer interest. On Monday Eleven trawlers landed 6,001 boxes with large cod selling at £2.20-£2.50, Medium Cod £2-£2.50, Haddock £ large £1.80-£2.20, medium £1.50-£2,Whiting 90p-£1.20, Monkfish £3-£4, Coley 80p-£1, mergrim £1.50-£5Hake 30p-£1.50 and Plaice, 70p-£1.30.
Trawlers landed Karmara 11, Flacon, Ocean Reward IV, Sagittarius, Phoenix, Sunrise, Rosemount, Budding Rose, Lapwing, Attain 11, Defiant . Consigned Wanderer.
The following day’s market Tuesday saw Nine trawlers land 4859 boxes with large cod selling at £1.90-£2.40, medium £1.50-£2, haddock large £2.50, Medium £1.80-£2.30, whiting £1-£1.40, Lemon sole £1,£4, Monkfish £ £2.40-£4.50, coley £1-£1.10, mergrim £1-£4, plaice 70p-£1.50 and hake 70p-£1.50.
Boats landed Castlewood, Boy Andrew, Ocean Venture, Our Lass, Sustain, Attain, Ardent, Advance and Vela.
Following a 3,332 box landing on Wednesday from 10 trawlers saw Cod large sell at £2-£2.50, medium £1.60-£2.20, Large haddock £1.80-£2.50, medium £1.80-£2.50, Whiting £1.20-£1.40, Monkfish £3-£4, coley £1-£1.20, Hake 60p-£1.50, mergrim £1-£2.
Trawlers landed, Summer dawn, Golden Gain, Ocean Bounty, Karmarra , Our Guide, Daisy, Amity, Favonius Conquest Aurelia.
The next day Thursday saw 10 trawlers land a total of 4,382 boxes Large cod sold for £1.80-£2.50, medium £1.60-£2.20, haddock large £3-£3.50, medium £1.60-£2.20, whiting £1.20-£1.50, Monkfish £3-£4, coley £1.-£1.10, lemon sole £1.-£4 , plaice 67p-£1.50.
Trawlers landed Harvest Hope, Ocean Bounty, Veta, Sustain, Glenugie, Faithful, Crystal River, Achieve, Farnella, Benarkie, Atlantic Chellange, Caley.
The last market of the week on Friday saw 12 trawlers land a total of 3,88 boxes with large cod selling at £1.70-£2.50, medium £1.60-£2, monkfish £3.80-£4.30, whiting £1.20-£1.50, Cole y £1,-£1.20, Mergrim £2.50-£7 ,plaice £1, Hake £2-£3.50, lemon sole £1.-£2.20.

In total 53 trawlers landed 22,383 boxes. With two pelagic boats landing herring at Peterhead.
At Fraserburgh harbour 65 boats landed a total of 4,571 boxes of whitefish.
At Scrabster harbour 12 vessels landed 5,271 boxes of whitefish. And at Buckie harbour Five vessels landed 30 boxes of white fish, prawns and squid plus 341 bags of clams.
