Severe gales at the beginning of last week saw only 5,000 boxes of whitefish sold at Peterhead Fish Market Scotland’s premier fishing port, when several trawlers decided to lie over to land their catches to a similarly sized market on the Tuesday.
The top three selections of haddock sold at £125-£148 per 57 kg box and Whiting at £103-£125 per 57 kg Box.
On the first market of the week Monday Thirteen trawlers landed a total of 5173 boxes of white fish which sold for the following prices. Cod Large £2.80-£3.80, Medium £2.50-£2.80, Cod Small £1.40-£2.40. Large Haddock £2.20-£2.60, Medium £2.20-£2.60, Whiting £1.70-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.60. Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Coley £31.20-£1.70, Megrims £3.00-£6.00, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Hake £1.50-£3.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00 Ling £1.60-£1.90.
Trawlers Landed Celestial Dawn, Rosebloom, Boy John, Our Lass, MaiMai, Opportunus, Serene, Maggie M, Strathelliot, Arkh Angell, Farnella, Fear Nor (PD) Daisy.
The following day Tuesday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 4466 boxes of white fish which made the following prices at market, Large Cod £2.70-£3.30, Medium £2.50-£2.80, Large Haddock £2.40-£2.60, Medium £2.20-£2.40, Whiting £1.60-£1.80, Round Whiting £1.30-£1.50, Lemon Sole £2.20-£6.00, Coley £1.20-£1.50, Megrims £2,00-£6.00, Monkfish £4.00-£5.00, Plaice £1.00-£2.00, Hake £1.25-£3.00, Witches £1.50-£2.00, Witches £1.50-£2.00 and Ling £1.60-£2.00.
Trawlers landed Courageous, Ocean Dawn, Fairline, Farnella, Lapwing, Budding Rose, Golden Splendour.
On the Wednesday it was a very quite market with only Three trawlers landing a total of 1364 boxes of whitefish which sold at following prices Cod Large £2.70-£3.20 Medium £2.50-£2.80 There Were no HADDOCK LANDED. Whiting £1.40-£1.60, Lemon Sole £2.00-£5.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Coley £1.35-£1.45, Megrims £4.00-£6.00. Plaice £1.00, Hake £1.50-£2.50, Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £2.30.

On the next day’s market Thursday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 2921 boxes of white fish which sold at the following prices Cod Large £2.50-£3.20, Medium £2,00-£2.50, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Whiting £1.50-£1.80, Lemon Sole £3.00-£8.00, Monkfish £4.00-£4.50, Coley £1.30-£1.60, Plaice 60p-£1.20, Hake £1.50-£3.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £2.00-£2.50.
Trawlers landed Sustain, Vela, Harvest Hope, Enterprise, Fairline, Cobstant Friend and Kumara.
The Last market of the week Friday saw Thirteen trawlers land a total of 5685 boxes of white fish which sold for the following prices, Large Cod £2.60-£3.30, Medium £2.00-£2.70, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.60, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Whiting £1.40-£1.50, Round Whiting £1.10-£1.30, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Monkfish £3.50-£4.50, Coley £1.10-£1.40, Megrims £2.00-£6.50, Plaice £1.00-£1.50, Hake £1.50-£3.00 Witches £1.00-£2.00 and Ling £1.80-£2.20.
Trawlers Landed Content, Shalimar, Helenus, Nordfjordr, Acorn, Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Golden Sceptre, Onward, Beryl, Starlight Rays, Starlight and Moremma.
Peterhead landings for the weeks from 43 trawlers totalled 19,609 boxes of white fish. There were Two Pelagic landings of mackerel.
At Fraserburgh Harbour fish market 109 trawlers landed a total of3,038 boxes of white fish which sold for fair prices.
At Scrabster harbour 36 boats landed 8,093 boxes of white fish over the week with pricers reported a good.
At Buckie Harbour 14 trawlers landed a total of 481 boxes of white fish, prawns and squid with good prices reported.
At Pittenweem harbour (Fife) fish market there were good landings of prawns despite the gales that lashed the coast.
At St Monans Harbour (Home of Our John Kinsman) huge waves crashed over the harbour walls at it did along the Fife coast with many boats remaining in harbours.
