Several trawlers were landing shots of round haddock on Tuesday morning (September 14), with white fish supplies increased at Peterhead Harbour after a succession of poor markets brought about by bad weather and quota problems,
With 3,300 boxes of haddock on the market floor on the Tuesday morning at Peterhead fish market, medium haddock sold for £114-£143 per kg box.
The first market of the week on Monday September saw eight trawlers land a total of 2858 boxes of white fish which sold at large Cod £3.00-£4.00, medium £3.00-£3.60, There were no haddock sold, but Round haddock sold at £1.30-£1.40, Monk Fish £3-80-£4.40, Plaice 70p-£1.50, Hake 60p-£1.70, Witches £1.00-£1.50 Ling £1.30-£1.60 and Coley £1.10-£1.30.
Trawlers landed Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Achieve, Alaskere, Farnella, Pegasus, Maimi and Castlewood.
The following day Tuesday eight boats landed a total of 5173 boxes of white fish with Large Cod £3.40-£3.90, Medium £2.50=£330, Haddock medium 32.50, Whiting 90p-£1.10, Lemon Sole £1.00-£4.00, Monkfish £3.20-£4.00, Megrims £1.50-£4.50, Coley £1.00-£1.20, Plaice £62p-£1.50, Hake 70p-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50, and Ling £1.20-£1.60.
Boats landed Attain, Sunrise, Rosewood, Golden Gain, Summer Dawn, Renown, Seagull and Acorn.
On the Wednesday only Seven Trawlers landed a total of 1399 boxes of whitefish with Cod Large £3.40-£4.00, medium £3.00-£3,40, Medium Haddock £2.50-£3.00, Whiting £1.70-£2.00, Monkfish £3.00-£4.00, Coley £1.20, Lemon Sole £2.00-£3.00, Megrims £2.00-£3.00, Hake £1.50-£2.50, Witches £1.00-£1.50, and Ling £1.50-£2.00.
Trawlers landed Blue Sky, Denebula, Adorne, Morning Star, Opportunus, Strathelliot,, And Karenann.
The following day Thursday only eight trawlers landed a total of 3905 boxes of white fish with Cod Large £2.70-£3.60, Medium £2.50-£3.00, Haddock Medium £2.40-£2.80, Lemon Sole £1.00-£5.00, Whiting £1.20-£1.60,, Monkfish £3.00-£4.00, Coley £1.10-£1.25, Megrims £2.00-£5.50, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake £1.30-£2.60, Witches £1.00-£1.50 . Ling £1.50.
Boats landed Content, Shalimar, Ocean Reaper, Marcestina, Harvest Hope, Tranquility, Starlight Rays and Starlight.
The last market of the week on Friday only Five trawlers landed a total of 1303 boxes of white fish which sold at Cod Large £3.30-£4.00, Medium £3.00-£3.30, Haddock £2.00-£2.30, Whiting £2.00-£2.50, Monkfish £3.80-£2.50, Coley £1.10-£1.30, Megrims £2.50-£6.00, Plaice 65p-£1.50, Hake £1.20-£2.20, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £2.00-£2.20.
Trawlers landed Favonius, Ocean Harvest, Harvester, Achieve, and Celestial Dawn .
Landings at Peterhead from 32 trawler totalled 14,613 boxes of whitefish. There were also six pelagic landings of Mackerel which sold for good prices.
At Fraserburgh harbour market there were landings or consignments totalling 2215 boxes of white fish.
At Buckie Harbour two vessels landed a total of 40 boxes of whitefish squid and prawns. And at Pittenweem harbour (Fife) there were good landings of prawns, crabs and lobsters from the local fleet plus a few visiting boats where prices were said to be fair.
