White Fish landings at Peterhead Harbour Scotland’s premier fishing port last week were very good.
Haddock sold at £114.£148 per 57kg box and Whiting sold at £91-£125 per 57 kg box.
On the first market of the week Monday April 18 eight trawlers landed a total of 2659 boxes of whitefish which sold for the following prices Large Cod £2.50-£3.50, Medium £2.50-£3.50, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.90, Medium£2.50-£3.00, Whiting £1.50-£2.00, Round Whiting 90p-£1.20, Lemon Sole £1.00-£6.00, Monkfish £4.00-£5.10, Coley £1.10-£1.65, Megrims £1.10-£1.65, Plaice 60p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£2.00, Witches 50p-£1.00 and Ling £1.10-£1.50.
Trawlers Landed Fruitful Bough, Celestial Dawn, Sagittarius, Achieve, Aurella, Heather Sprig, Audacious.Norlan.
The following Day’s market Tuesday saw Eight trawlers land a total of 5207 boxes of whitefish selling at the following prices at market Large Haddock £2.20-£2.50, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Cod Large £2.50-£3.30, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Whiting £1.60-£2.20, Round Whiting £1.40-£1.75, Monkfish £4.10-£5.40, Lemon Sole £1.00-£6.00, Coley £1.10-£1.50. Megrim Withdrawn-£1.58, Plaice 50p-£1.00, Hake 75p-£2.00, Witches 50p and Ling £1.00-£1.45..
Boats landed Boy Andrew, Adorne, Ryanwood, Ocean Bounty, Shalimar(PD) Artemis, Castelewood, Constant Friend.
Wednesday’s market saw Nine trawlers land a total of 3901 boxes of white fish selling at the following prices Large Cod £2.50-£3.50, Medium £2.50-£3.00, Haddock Large £2.40-£2.50. Medium £2.40-£2.50, Whiting £1.40-£2.40, Round Whiting £1.20-£1.80, Lemon Sole £2.00-£6.00, Coley 82p-£1.50, Monkfish £3.00-£5.10, Megrim With Drawn £2.00, Plaice 50p-80p, Hake 60p-2.50, Witches £1.00-£1.50 and Ling £1.00-£1.60.
Trawlers Landed, Attain, Jubilee Quest, Ocean Trust, Our Lass, Fairline, Budding Rose, Lapwing, Ocean Reward and Favonius.
The following day’s market Thursday saw Ten trawlers land a total of 4972boxes of whitefish which sold at the following prices, Haddock large £2.20-£2.50, Medium £2.20-£2.50, Cod Large £2.80-£3.50, Medium £2.60-£3.30, Whiting £1.60-£2.50, Round Whiting £1.40-£1.60, Lemon Sole £1.00-£6.00, Coley £1.00-£1.40, Megrims £1.00-£5.20, Monkfish £3.50-£4.70, Plaice 50p-£1.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50, Hake 70p-£2.50 and Ling £1.00-£1.45.
Boats landed Crystal River, Faithful, Summer Dawn, Golden Gain, Amiy, Accord, Ardent, Advance Starlight Rays, and Opportunus.
The last market of the week Friday saw Five trawlers land a total of 1838 boxes of whiting selling at the following prices. Cod Large £3.00-£3.60, Medium £3.00-£3.20, Haddock Large £2.00-£2.50, Medium £2.00-£2.50, Whiting £1.40-£2.40, Round Whiting £1.20-£1.80, Lemon Sole £1.50-£5.50, Monkfish £3.70-£4.20, Megrims £3.00-£5.00, Coley £1.25-£1.50, Plaice 50p-£1.50, Hake £1.00-£3.00, Witches £1.30-£2.00, Ling £1.20-£1.50.
Trawlers landed Starlight, Tranquility, Crystal Tide, Moremma and Zenith.
At Peterhead Harbour there were landings from40 boats totalling 18,583 boxes of whitefish last week. There were no Pelagic landings.
At Fraserburgh Harbour there were a total of 52 trawler landings of 2,494 boxes of white fish which sold for fair prices.
At Ullapool Harbour it was a better week with Three Spanish liner/netters landing 69 tonnes of mixed white fish, Three Scottish Trawlers bringing in 140 tonnes and Two Scottish Crabbers landing 24 tonnes of Brown Crab. The local fleet reported steady fishing.
At Buckie Harbour there seven boat boats landing a total of 197 boxes of Whitefish fish, Prawns and Squid, .
At Pittenweem Harbour Fife there were good lands of Prawns from the local prawn fleet who are fishing the grounds of the Firth of Forth and further a field at present.
The local shellfish fishermen at Anstruther, Crail, and St Monans are now setting out their creel pots for the Lobster and Crab fishing season..
