With a background that goes back to the 1930s, Scandic Pelagic is a new company structure formed from SweDen Pelagic and Skagerak Pelagic into a new entity.
The company has a staff of 300 and handles approximately 125,000 tonnes of herring annually.
Scandic Pelagic’s formation is based on the merger of SweDen Pelagic AB, Nielsens Fiskeeksport A/S and Skagerak Pelagic A/S, which follows the acquisition last year by FF Skagen of Skagerak Pelagic A/S while Sweden Pelagic AB took over Nielsens Fiskeeksport A/S.
As well as the recent history, there has been a series of mergers and acquisitions over the decades. In 2015 Swe-Dan Seafood A/S changed its name to SweDen Pelagic AB, while still under the joint ownership of FF Skagen A/S and Västkustfisk SVC AB. The same year SweDen Pelagic AB bought the processing company Paul Mattsson AB.
Back in 2011 Skagerak Pelagic A/S acquired the fillet factory building and equipment from Skagen Pelagic A/S, which had been established in 2006 after a merger between P. Antonisen Fiskeeksport A/S and Havfisk A/S.
In 2006 Skagerak Pelagic A/S was established through the merger of Erik Taabbel Fiskeeksport A/S, Skagerak Fiskeeksport A/S, Unifish A/S and Essi Konsumfisk A/S.
Prior to that, FF Skagen A/S and Västkustfisk SVC AB had established the joint venture Swe-Dan Seafood A/S in 1999 – which later became SweDen Pelagic AB.
Skagerak Pelagic’s history goes back more than eight decades as the company is based on Nielsens Fiskeeksport A/S (founded in 1983), Erik Taabbel Fiskeeksport A/S (established in 1948), and Skagerak Fiskeeksport A/S (founded in 1930), all of which come with a long tradition in the processing of herring.
Scandic Pelagic is taking part in Seafood Expo Global and SPG in Brussels this week, and the company will be in hall 5 at stand No. 329-5.
