Dutch company Pronomar, which specialises in supplying drying systems for work gear, such as oilskins, boots, gloves and other PPE, has seen interest growing in the company’s systems and has been increasingly supplying fishing vessels.
‘We are a company with our roots in the maritime industry and are the main supplier of drying systems offshore,’ said Pronomar’s managing director Jaap Baars.
Now that the fishing industry has seen an increased economic stability in recent years, the demand for drying systems for fishing vessels has increased.
‘We can also supply compact sustainable solutions for trawlers. It has been proven that these work at sea, as the dryers are not only very robust, but also dry the clothing incredibly fast from the inside out,’ he said, adding that there is a strong focus on comfort and health in this particular industry, which consequently results in a higher motivation for crews.
The Lokker fishing family in the Netherlands has been making use of the stainless steel drying systems for 13 years, as are many of Pronomar’s long-term customers, such as Jaczon for the SCH-123 and SCH-24 and Cornelis Vrolijk on the SCH-81 and SCH-72.
This demand is also clear outside the Netherlands.
‘Last year Pronomar received orders from Fiskerstrand Werft AS in Norway to equip the new live fish carriers Gåsø Freyja and Gåsø Jarl. After that, in May 2017 we supplied drying systems to Chile for two trawler vessels owned by fishing company Blumar,’ Jaap Baars said.
‘The results were very positive results, so they went on to equip their entire fleet. The customer let us know that the objective of this order was to improve the well-being of the crew. We are very happy with this new development and to see the enthusiasm and the positive results that dry clothing brings to people,’ Jaap Baars said.
This year Pronomar will have a stand at the Skipper Expo in Aberdeen, May 25-26th (stand 81A) and at the Holland Fishery Event in Urk, October 5-6th (stand A5).
