Bulgarian fishermen are still at loggerheads with the country’s fisheries administration and a demonstration is planned for today as their protests continue.
Abiding by Bulgarian law, the protesting fishermen have taken care to inform the authorities that their protest takes place today between 1100 and 1300 today outside the offices of the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Varna.
This is the latest round in a long-running dispute between Bulgaria’s fishermen and the government agencies that manage fisheries. Fishermen claim that unworkable regulations have been put in place, and that these have been enforced rigorously.
Earlier this year Bulgarian fishermen blockaded the port of Varna, preventing maritime traffic from entering or leaving. In spite of their actions, the situation remains unchanged as far as the fishermen are concerned.
