On January 24, 2008, ASMAR and ISFELAG Vestmannaeyja HF formalized the construction of a second 71m ship for seiner/trawler pelagic fishing activities through the corresponding design contract with Rolls-Royce Marine and the construction contract with ASMAR.
The agreement was subscribed in Frankfurt by Mr. Gunnlaugur S. Gunnlaugsson , President of ISFELAG Vestmannaeyja HF, Mr. Aegir Pall Fridbertsson, General Manager of ISFELAG Vestmannaeyja HF, RA Mr. Carlos Fanta, ASMAR Executive Director, Captain Giancarlo Stagno, ASMAR Talcahuano General Manager, Mr. Hernán Fuentes, ASMAR Corporative Shipbuilding Manager and Mr. Monrad Hide, Executive Director of NVC, representing Rolls-Royce Marine.
This new contract adds to the projects that the Chilean shipyard is currently carrying out including two Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Chilean Navy, one fishing vessel for Hvalnes of Faeroe Is to be launched on February 20th, 2008, one Offshore Patrol Vessel for the Icelandic Government, one Oceanographic, Hydrographic and Fisheries Research Vessel for the Government of Chile, and one fishing vessel for ISFELAG Vestmannaeyja HF of similar characteristics to the one booked recently.
