Last year 55,0000 tonnes of frozen products made their way through cold stores run by Síldarvinnslan in eastern Iceland, with 32,300 of those tonnes produced at the Norðfjörður factory and 22,300 tonnes landed into cold storage by factory vessels, with landings of both pelagic and demersal species.
Vilhelm Thorsteinsson landed 3302 tonnes, Kristina landed 7580 tonnes, Hákon landed 7579 tonnes, Barði landed 2983 tonnes and the recently-acquired Blængur landed 116 tonnes. Greenland-flagged Polar Amaroq landed 653 tonnes to Síldarvinnslan’s cold store.
Around 65,000 tonnes of frozen products were shipped out from the cold store last year, with 49,899 tonnes shipped on reefer vessels and 14,856 tonnes in containers or by road to be exported via other ports.
