The Vyborg Shipyard, part of Russian shipbuilding group United Shipbuilding Corporation, has floated off the latest in a series of new factory trawlers.

The 80.40 metre LOA, 15.40 metre Yuri Matochkin being built for Atlantrybflot, and is one of three trawlers under construction at the yard for companies within the FOR Group.

Yuri Matochkin’s keel was laid down at the Vyborg Shipyard in November 2018, when work began on the Ice Class Ice3 trawler with hull reinforcement up to class Arc4. Fitting out now continues with the trawler at the yard’s quayside.

Designed primarily as groundfish trawlers, Yuri Matochkin and its sister vessels are being fitted with 4640kW main engines and will be equipped with versatile factory decks capable of freezing around 100 tonnes per day to be stored in the 2375 cubic metre fishroom.
