The three-day DanFish International exhibition, which ended yesterday, has been a success as 13,000 visitors came to this year’s event, held at the Aalborg Congress & Culture Center (AKKC).
The organisers are confident that this solid turnout cements the position DanFish holds as a global meeting point for the fishing industry as a whole, attracting visitors from 47 countries.
Opening speeches by Svend-Erik Andersen, Chairman of the Danish Fisheries Association, and Henrik Mørkholt, Chairman of the Danish Export Association, focused on the importance of DanFish International to the global fishing sector as a must-attend event.
‘We can only be satisfied with the 28th DanFish International, with nearly 13,000 visitors and highly content exhibitors, who have also emphasised the excellent energy and atmosphere at the exhibition. As always, we have received plenty of positive feedback from the city’s hotels and restaurants, which have had to work hard over the three days,’ said AKKC CEO Nicolaj Holm, commenting that it’s no coincidence that many visitors return to Aalborg time and time again.
‘We attend fairs in Hamburg, the Faroe Islands, and so on, but it’s always DanFish that draws the most visitors,’ said Søren Rasmussen, CEO of Nordhavn Power Solutions. One of the other main attractions of the exhibition has been the numerous sustainable offerings at the event, making DanFish more relevant than ever. This year’s event showcased a wealth of equipment aimed at making fishing more sustainable. Visitors were introduced to everything from hydrogen as a new fuel, fuel injectors to enhance fuel efficiency, methanol engines, and much more.
This year’s event also featured a brand-new and well-attended stage area where visitors could dive beneath the surface and explore the foundation of the fishing industry. Each day, a series of lectures covered topics such as digitization in fishing, energy efficiency, artificial intelligence, and the development of future vessels, among others.
