Icelandic processing systems specialist Vélfag’s new managing director takes over his new role on 1st November, taking over from one of the founders, Bjarmi Sigurgarðarsson, who now joins the board.
‘Vélfag is an exciting company with huge potential that’s built on a solid basis and technology that has proved itself around the world. Bjarmi and the Vélfag team have shaped ambitious future plans for the fish processing of the future, in which the UNO system will play a major role,’ invoming managing director Trausti Árnason said.
‘I have plenty of anticipation and optimism over taking on the challenges and opportunities that come with this, working with a co-ordinated team of colleagues and in close collaboration with clients.’
Trausti Árnason’s CV includes qualifying in systems technology from the University of Reykjavík, a variety of roles in software development for the fishing sector, and periods with Marel and Skaginn 3X, before taking a step sideways into real-time medical deliveries for Contolant.
‘I’m certain that Trausti’s appointment is going to give Vélfag wings,’ said Alfreð Tulinius, chairman of the Vélfag board.
The company’s founders, Bjarmi Sigurgarðarsson and Ólöf Ýr Lárusdóttir, are delighted with this milestone.
