Icelandic processing systems supplier Vélfag has just dispatched one of its innovative UNO processing lines to a Norwegian producer, this time to a cod farming operation.
This is in addition to the two UNO systems that are on board new factory trawler Ecofive, which is currently in a shakedown trip to test the varietyof innovtive systems on board.

‘We’re proud to have played a key role in Bluewild’s innovative new trawler, Ecofive. This advanced vessel is equipped with two UNO fish processing lines from Vélfag, delivering efficient, high-quality processing at sea,’ said Vélfag CEO Trausti Árnason.
‘With the UNO lines, Ecofive can perform multiple processing functions in one system – heading, filleting, pinbone removal, and skinning, maximising both sustainability and production efficiency. This collaboration showcases how cutting-edge technology is driving the future of sustainable fishing.’
He commented that the UNO system is space-saving and highly labour-efficient, ensuring increased yield, as well as being ideally suited for vessels such as Ecofive, as well as for land-based operations.
‘We’re excited to see UNO machinery continue to shape the future of the fishing industry, providing Bluewild with the tools to meet their ambitious goals,’ he said and added that a further UNO system is on its way for a Norwegian cod farmer, and this installation is customised with stainless steel doors and windows for enhanced accessibility and durability.
