Nautic-designed triple-rigger Sigurbjörg is undergoing trials at the Celiktrans shipyard in Turkey, and it’s soon expected to be embarking on the delivery trip to Iceland.
The design features the distinctive Enduro Bow arrangement that has already proved to be effective on other vessels designed by the company, including three fresher trawlers built at the same yard for Brim, and which is now a regular feature of vessels designed by Nautic.
The new fresher trawler is outfitted with four Ibercisa trawl winches, enabling it to tow three trawls.
The main engine has a 1795kW output, derated from 2100kW, powering a 3800mm diameter propeller to provide a 45 tonne bollard pull. Auxiliary power is be provided by a pair of 600kW gensets.
Sigurbjörg has a 285 square metre catch handling deck, which is a completely clear space with no supporting pillars required, achieved by the use of smart engineering of the hull and bulkhead structures to attain the required structural strengths.
The 630 cubic metre fishroom has space for 590 x 440-litre tubs, providing a carrying capacity of approximately 185 tonnes.
Accommodation is for a crew of up to 16 in single and twin cabins.
Sigurbjörg was ordered originally by Siglufjörður fishing company Rammi – but there have been changes in its ownership since then, following its merger with Westman Islands fishing and processing company Ísfélagið.
