Longliner Argenova XIV is preparing to be back at sea following a six-month refit.
Operated by Nuevo Pescanova’s Argentinian subsidiary Argenova, this is one of the company’s three longliners fishing for Patagonian toothfish.
The refit carried out on board Argenova XIV includes a main engine overhaul and refurbishment of the catch handling deck. The refit has been managed by Vigo-based Ingemar Naval Architects’ branch in Argentina, providing site supervision, stability testing and trials, as well as liaising with the Argentine Naval Prefecture.
‘Toothfish is one of the most valuable species on the international market and requires vessels prepared to operate safely, efficiently and reliably in particularly demanding conditions,’ a representative of Ingemar Naval Architects commented.
‘For our team, participating in a project of these characteristics is a recognition of a technical job well done – engineering, refurbishment, stability, official tests and on-site accompaniment until the return to operation. Thanks to Argenova de Grupo Nueva Pescanova for the trust, and congratulations to all those involved in this project.’
