The share of Icelandic fishing company HB Grandi held by Kristján Loftsson (also Hvalur hf’s owner) and Halldór Teitsson has been sold to Guðmundur Kristjánsson, owner of Brim. This places 34.1% of HB Grandi’s ownership into new hands.
The request for authorisation was received in December, and now South Africa’s Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) has approved the acquisition of Viking Fishing fishing rights by the Sea Harvest Group for an amount reported to be in excess of 130 million Rand (€8.75 million).

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed an agreement to acquire Rapp Marine Group (RMG) in order to strengthen its offering for the fishery and research vessel sector. MacGregor's existing portfolio includes already various deck handling equipment, such as cranes and booms, but the acquisition of RMG is expected to allow MacGregor is able to offer complete packages with advanced winches and related control systems.
Ownership of the Skagerak Pelagic factory in Skagen, Denmark’s largest herring processor has gone to FF Skagen, which agreed last week to buy the entire shareholding in the company.
A deal has been struck between processor Ísfiskur, based in the Reykjavík suburb of Kópavogur, and fishing and processing giant HB Grandi, which had earlier this year announced its intention to close its groundfish production in Akranes.
SweDen Pelagic has reached an agreement with Launis A/S to acquire the entire shareholding of Danish company Nielsens Fiskeeksport, based at Ålbæk in Jutland.
