Sea Hunter 24 trawl doors have been in use for around a year, and the four-backstrop rig provides exception stability during a tow, according to Rock Trawl Doors managing director Petur Kjærbæk.

‘We started with these in the Faroes a year ago and these door replace the older version that was rigged with three backstrops,’ he said.
‘Now these are in use in the Faroes, Iceland and Greenland, in sizes from 3.5 to 15 square metres.’
The latest customer for Rock’s Sea Hunter 24 doors is Greenland shrimp trawler Svend C – which also has the largest of these doors so far.
‘Svend C has been a customer for many years,’ he said.
‘They are in their first trip with their 15 square metre, 6700kg doors, replacing the older Sea Hunters with three backstrops. The skipper is very satisfied with the new doors, and it seems that these are going to be the future for shrimp trawling.’
