With over 200 exhibitors, including the highest ever international component yet, and a strong visitor turnout, the Skipper Expo Int. 2017 event in Aberdeen has been hailed a great success.
According to organisers Mara Media, exhibitors reported good business over the two-day event (26-27th May) at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre, with many securing important orders.
Anderson Marine enjoyed an excellent expo and secured the sale of GF8 Fast Cat to a visiting skipper.
‘It was a great show for us and there was plenty of interest in our boat range,’ said Colin Anderson of Anderson Marine.
Todd Fish Tech also experienced a good show, and among their highlights, was the sale of a 300 kilo capacity Lobster Pod live shellfish storage system to fishermen Scott Nicol and John Arthur of Gardenstown.
‘It was a wonderful show and as well as selling a Lobster Pod, we were also able to do good business with other exhibitors at the show,’ said
Errin Todd of Todd Fish Tech. ‘The large number of exhibitors made this the ideal place for such business-to-business interactions.’
For trawl door specialist, Morgère, there was plenty of interest in their Exocet system.
‘We were delighted to sell some sets of doors and this was a very good exhibition for us,’ Michel Dagorn of Morgère said.
Bertie Armstrong, chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, who sponsored the expo, said: ‘It was a fantastic event and the way the show has grown over the years is testament of the hard work of organiser, Mara Media, in developing an exhibition tailored to the needs of the Scottish fishing industry.’
One of the highlights of the expo was the huge turnout at the highly popular seafood buffet evening held at the Douglas Hotel, which was sponsored by Commercial Oils, Furuno (UK) and Sunderland Marine.
‘This was such a great show and I would like to thank all the exhibitors and visitors for their amazing support,’ commented Sharon Boyle of show organiser Mara Media. ‘It is especially pleasing that so many exhibitors reported strong levels of business being achieved.’
The next show coming up in the Skipper series is Skipper Expo Int. Bristol 2017, due to be held on 7-8th September at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol.
