A €1.5 million fund is being made available in the Netherlands by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN) in an effort to help the fisheries sector cope with challenges such as rising fuel prices and climate change.
The fund will be open to applications from 1st September to 24th October for support for projects related to innovation in fishing techniques.
The initiative focuses on on small-scale innovation projects, including the development of sustainable fishing techniques and fuel-saving technologies.
The grant is available to partnerships involving fishing operators and research bodies. Research organisations can receive 100% of their eligible costs, and other parties 75%. The maximum available per project is €150,000. Each project is expected to demonstrate a contribution to the sustainability of the fishing sector or a substantial reduction in environmental impacts.
