According to the news Da Nang People’s Committee has issued decision on strengthening information dissemination for farmers. It is said that this information aim to minimize the cases of fishing vessels being caught by foreign authorities, and protect the safety and property of fishers. Da Nang’s people’s Committee has requested the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) to cooperate with the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, the Borderline Military Steering Board, the municipal Farmers Association, and districts’ People’s.
As per the report the Committee has planned to hold workshops on fisheries management regulations of Viet Nam and neighboring countries, at-sea rights and obligations of fishers. The Committee also willing to submit proposals on punishment toward fishing vessels that conduct illegal fishing practices, violating the territorial waters of these countries, including withdrawal of Fishing License.
It is told that the Borderline Military Steering Board monitors and works with the local DARD to tighten control over the offshore fishing fleets, at the same time, asks vessel captains to pledge not to violate the territorial waters of neighboring countries, or involve in illegal fishing.
