As per the information Vietnamese consignment of seafood is still waiting for the clearance in Spanish custom. Deputy Director of the National Agro-forestry and Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NFIQAD) Nguyen Nhu Tiep said that 20 consignments of seafood exports, mostly tra fish, have been refused entry to Spain since the beginning of July 2009.
Tiep informed that the Spanish agency cited the mistakes in quarantine certification and refused to clear the exports. However, the change in the form of the quarantine certification, is now yellow instead of blue, has been told to NIFQAD already. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Luong Le Phuong told that this is one of the barriers to cause difficulties to Vietnam’s seafood exports to Spain.
After detail probe EU’s inspectors later affirmed that the accusation was not reliable. However, since then, Vietnam’s exports to the country have faced the risk of being refused entry, for a lot of reasons. Phuong from MARD also said that Vietnamese tra fish enterprises may face the risk of being sued because of their ‘unhealthy competition’ when exporting tra fish into Spain.
