With the announcement that the Scottish Skipper Expo will now run every two years, making a return to Aberdeen in 2026, this year’s exhibition is widely anticipated across the industry, with virtually every type of equipment and support service represented.
‘From creels to trawls, electronics, vessels on display, fish bins, safety wear, deck machinery, engines and propellers – the Scottish Skipper Expo has it all,’ said Sharon Boyle, Commercial Fishing Manager with show organiser Mara Media, commenting that this year’s event features more than 160 participating companies from 16 different countries.
‘This includes a record-breaking display of seven inshore boats within the exhibition hall, with vessels from Poleson Marine, G Smyth Boats, Audacious Marine, Warrior Boats, DMG Welding and CJ Marine visitors get to check out inshore boat designs in person and meet with builders to discuss their own needs.’
The Scottish Skipper Expo is supported by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, and Peterhead Port Authority as its sponsors, and this marks the 12th Scottish Skipper exhibition, with both visitors and exhibitors citing the event as the most widely anticipated international fishing exhibition of the year.
‘With the show moving to every two years after 2024, it is wonderful to see such strong exhibitor interest, which will ensure that this will be a fabulous show for everyone. We are delighted that the Scottish Skipper Expo has become renowned for being such a great place to do business in a relaxed setting,’ Sharon Boyle added.
‘We are also thrilled to have a variety of boats on display at the show which will offer our visitors the opportunity to view the different designs and features first hand, with the added bonus of having the suppliers and shipbuilders also at the show who will be able to offer expert advice on what would suit their specific needs.’
The show will feature a strong representation of international companies, showcasing their high-quality products and services. Recognising the show as the UK’s flagship commercial fishing event, first time exhibitors include Etkin Marin and Akdeniz Shipyard of Turkey, Canada’s Katchi Global, Krohne Norway AS and Sea-Flux from New Zealand.
The Scottish Skipper Expo 2024 will also see the return of the ‘Seafood Taster’ stand, brought to you by Seafood Scotland, where visitors can sample a range of seafood delights freshly prepared on site.
Taking place on Thursday 9th & Friday 10th May at P&J Live in Aberdeen, the Scottish Skipper Expo is free to attend – and visitors can register on the day, or can save themselves time by registering online in advance.
