The English-based Skipper Expo that started life in Bristol before shifting to Bournemouth is now heading back this year.

Organisers Mara Media have announced that the move back to Bristol follows consultation with the industry and they expect it to boost the event by placing it in a more convenient location that offers excellent exhibitor and visitor facilities.

The 2017 Skipper Expo will take place at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th September this year.

Ashton Gate Stadium is the home of Bristol City FC and Bristol Rugby. Located in the South West of the city, it has very recently undergone a major redevelopment. The modern new venue features a large sports arena with fantastic on site facilities, including free parking and wi-fi.

Bristol has excellent air and rail transport links, and is within convenient driving distance of many key English and Welsh fishing ports. The city also features a wide selection of hotels to suit all budgets.

‘In making the decision to relocate this show, we were in the very fortunate position to be guided by the industry who gave us advice on preferred location and timing. We also had to take on board availability of the venue due to their commitments to sports events,’ said Sharon Boyle of Mara Media.

‘We wish to thank everyone who took the time to assist us in planning this new event. We believe the new location will enhance the ease of access whilst the timing of the show better reflects predicted fishing activity, making it more convenient for visitors. We are really excited to be working on this show – see you there.’
