The Port of Skagen has consolidated its position as Denmark’s leading fishing port – confirmed by the latest figures from the Danish Fisheries Agency.
In 2025, the Port of Skagen increased its market share by a further two percentage points. 62% of the total volume of fish landed in Denmark comes to Skagen. The port has also seen growth in value terms in 2025, as its share of the total landing value has increased from 42 to 43%.
With a total landing of 423,797 tonnes and a landing value of almost DKK 1750 million, 2025 was a record year in terms of both quantity and value. Landings of industrial fish in particular have driven the year’s progress.
The per kilo price of fish has generally risen across all segments, although the quantity of herring and deep-water shrimp landed for human consumption has decreased. On the other hand, the quantities of Norway lobster and whitefish landed for human consumption are at the same level as last year.
‘It is satisfying that the Port of Skagen is once again increasing its position as Denmark’s largest fishing port – despite the challenges in fishing with generally decreasing landed quantities in Denmark,’ said Port of Skagen director Willy B. Hansen.
‘We have positive expectations for the future, where we welcome 2026 by giving fishermen even better conditions with shore power during landing and a brand new auction quay with an increased depth of water.’
