SFF Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, has donated £5,000 to the Royal National Mission for Deep Sea Fishermen.
SFF president Ian Gatt presented Mission chairman Brian Miles with the cheque at a special dinner held recently at the House of Lords.
Ian Gatt said: “This donation reflects our appreciation of the important work that the mission does as the only charity dedicated to looking after the interests of fishermen.”
Mr Gatt also said that the SFF is keen to explore ways of providing further practical help to the Mission, for example providing meeting facilities at its Aberdeen headquarters.
Brian Miles said: “We are extremely grateful to the SFF but more specifically to Michael Sutherland and his team at SFF Services who made the funds available.
“We aim to alleviate poverty and despair in our fishing communities by providing emergency and welfare support to fishermen and their families 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This very welcome donation will help make our mission possible.”
