The first new generation pelagic super trawler SERENE delivered to the owner The Serene Fishing Company this week
The Serene Fishing Company placed the order at Westcon yard in 2006, and now skipper Bobby Polson and his six Whalsay partners finally can begin fishing whit the new vessel.
The new 71.7 meter Serene is in Lerwick harbor, where final preparations have to be made for her first fishing trip.
The main engine ia a MaK 12M32C develops 6,000kW coupled to a Scana Volda propulsion system including a Scana Volda ACG 950 gearbox , Scana Volda CP 105/4 blade propeller and a NSMB19A nozzle. Two MaK generator sets, 1x6M20C and 1x8M20C, will supply the vessel’s auxiliary power and a CAT C4.4 harbor generator and a CAT C9 emergency generator set will provide supply of electricity when the vessel is in port. The power system will provide a cruising speed of 17.5 knots.
Deck equipment is supplied by Karmøy
The SERENE will carry up to 2,000 tons of fish, herring, mackerel and blue whiting in the 2,045 m3 RSW tanks
