Organisers of the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, which had been scheduled for February, have set a September date for the postponed Boston event.
The expo will now take place at the Boston Exhibition and Convention Center on the 23rd-24th September and with a conference programme starting on 22nd.
While the organisers state that the September date has been carefully chosen, it’s clear that this is going to be a busy week in the fishing/seafood industry calendar, as Boston is set to clash directly with the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition (23rd-25th September) and overlap the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2020 (21st-23rd September).
‘It is fair to say that this year’s event will not be like any other years,’ said Liz Plizga, Group Vice President at Diversified Communications.
‘However, the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality event and services that are as similar as possible to what our customers have come to expect over the years.’
The September Boston event will feature a solutions-driven conference programme, and the exhibit hall, which will be held in Halls B and C, will highlight special programmes such as the new and featured product showcases where buyers can identify the latest seafood product, equipment and services, innovations and trends.
‘While navigating this unprecedented situation, we know there is a need for business continuity and are committed to providing a platform that will bring back together the industry suppliers and buyers who, due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, were prevented from meeting in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,’ Liz Plizga said.
The other major seafood event organised by Diversified Communications, Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, should have taken place last month and was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. While a new June date had been floated, this has idea has now been dropped and the organiser state that they are still pursuing date options for the 2020 event, working directly with customers to find the best time to hold the event this year.
