Russian fishing company Luntos has gone back to Danish supplier Carsoe for a factory deck to be installed on its second new trawler.
A first trawler for Luntos under construction at Vard’s yard in Vietnam is expected to be delivered this year, and last year Luntos and Vard signed a contract for a sister vessel for delivery in the second half of 2022. Luntos had already commissioned Carsoe to supply and install the first new vessel’s factory deck, and have returned to the Danish company for the second factory trawler to be fitted out.
Carsoe’s installation team is already in site in Vietnam, and with the factory deck in the final stages of installation, their job is to ensure that that the factory runs smoothly. It is scheduled to leave the shipyard this spring.
Meanwhile, the second Luntos vessel was designed and contracted with a few modifications compared to the first vessel.
‘Luntos 2 has a higher capacity and we have adjusted a few things to better accommodate this,’ said area sales manager Thomas Andreasen, who is delighted to be able to sign a second contract with Luntos.
‘Returning business means that we are doing our job right and we are very pleased to continue the corporation with Luntos and Vard, both of which are very professional business partners.’
The second Luntos vessel has a capacity of 230 tonnes/24h and will fish for herring, mackerel, pacific sardines, and squid. All species are processed in the Carsoe factory, which includes a grading station by size, a roller grader, and a complete filleting line.
All products are frozen in blocks in the 21 onboard vertical freezers before being packed in master boxes, strapped, weighed, and labelled and finally manually packed onto pallets.
Production for the Luntos factory has just started and the equipment is scheduled for delivery on the shipyard early 2022.
The 87 metre LOA, 18 metre breadth Luntos trawlers are built to a Vard 8 04 design and are being built at Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam.
