Icelandic company Slippurinn DNG, part of the Slippurinn shipyard complex in Akureyri, is busy with a processing facility for saltfish producer Labrador Fishermen’s Union in Newfoundland.
The production layout includes a trimming line, desalting section and programming for the complete production line.
‘We’ve visited and mapped the processing layout twice over the last few months,’ said project manager Orri Fannar Jónsson.
‘We provide programming for the entire flow management of the processing line in the plant, and alongside this Slippurinn DNG’s Promas production software is used to collate all production data.’
Installation of the processing line is expected to be completed in the second half of June, and the season opens in the middle of July.
‘Over the years Slippurinn DNG has designed and fabricated processing decks and there’s a wealth of experience in this within the company. More recently, we have been expanding into the design and fabrication of turnkey projects for shore-based production, and a new market with a great many opportunities is opening up.’
