The 10th annual Marel Salmon ShowHow got off to a record start today, with no less than 200 visitors from almost 100 companies attending the event, which is being staged as usual at the company’s premises in Nørresundby, Denmark.
Since its launch in 2001, the one-day show has become the world’s premier forum for decision makers from the global salmon industry at which to see the latest equipment for salmon processing.
”Attending this great event is simply a must for salmon processors,” commented Kai Schlie, managing director of Danish processor Brdr. Schlie, when explaining why he had closed his operation to give his management team an opportunity to attend today’s event.
Guest speakers this year included Norm VanVactor, general manager at Leader Creek Fisheries, Alaska, the single largest sockeye fillet processor in the Bristol Bay area, who inspired his audience with his insights into the catching and processing of wild salmon.
He was joined by Lars Liabø of international industry analyst Kontali, whose wide-ranging paper on The World Salmon Industry, history, status and future challenges covered topics ranging from the production increase in Chile and challenges for Norway, to market trends and added value in processing
Among the highlights featured in the 500m2 showroom was an exclusive preview of the Marel MS 2730, a next-generation filleting machine scheduled to go on sale later this year.
