Beauty and skincare through die were dominant issue at “The 100-Day Norwegian Salmon Health & Beauty Challenge,” a healthy lifestyle program by the Norwegian Seafood Export Council. There were 20 female participants in Beijing, , Shanghai and Guangzhou consumed Norwegian Salmon 3 times each week and exercised 2 time per week to enhance their skin beauty ad improve their body shape.
In the conclusion event of the program a leading dermatologist reported on the results of a skin complexion pilot study associated with the 100-day program. The study measured the effectiveness of Norwegian Salmon consumption in promoting skin health. Dr. Wu Yan dermatologist at Peking University First Hospital, said that the pilot study results suggest a strong correlation between intake of Norwegian Salmon and skin health, particularly with regards to important factors like skin moisture and the skin’s ability to protect itself from environmental influences.
He also told that the participants were tested in 5 standard aspects that are representative for skin aging: water content in the outer layer of skin, skin barrier function, skin color evenness, facial pore size and wrinkles. Each of the 10 participants in the pilot study showed positive results in all areas. There were significant positive changes for all test areas except wrinkle reduction, but even in this area-which typically takes longer to effect change-there were slight improvements.
Dr Wu pointed out though the participants realized significant changes in such a short time, this is only a pilot test intended to reveal areas for further study and is not a formal scientific study. In her “Science of Beauty” presentation, Dr. Wu emphasized that along with genetic and environmental factors, the foods that we eat have a substantial impact on the condition of our skin: “Truly healthy skin comes from inside. Consuming anti-aging foods such as Norwegian Salmon, which can be considered as a kind of Anti-Aging Fish, are highly recommended among leading skin care professionals.
