Russian Fishery Company, one of the world’s leading pollock producers has delivered its 2025 figures, demonstrated increased production figures and a significant shift from a raw materials-based model to a business built around highly processed products, a category-specific brand, and exports to Asia.

‘RFC’s production indicators, investment projects, human resources policy, and projects to promote consumption of wild white fish all contribute to the continuous growth and development of our company, demonstrating its ability to adapt to modern market conditions. Pollock is becoming a brand and confidently reaching a new level of international recognition, strengthening Russia’s reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality fish products,’ said the company’s general director Konstantin Globenko.
By the end of last year, RFC had caught over 423,000 tonnes of raw material. Fillet production totalled more than 37,000 tonns, a 71% increase compared to the previous year. Surimi production totalled 60,000 tons, a 49% increase compared to 2024.
One of the company’s priorities has been to develop pollock caviar consumption in Russia and the Chinese market. In 2025, RFC produced over 7000 tonnes of caviar.
Domestic sales of fully-processed products increased by 27% year-on-year, with pollock roe production more than double, fillets up by 30%, and surimi by 21% compared to 2024. For consumers, this means pollock is gradually gaining a niche market—from frozen fillets to ready-made products for retail and HoReCa.

RFC has expanded its presence in key markets such as China, Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia. In 2025, surimi sales to Asian countries, excluding China, more than doubled, while pollock fillet sales increased by 30%. Mexico provided additional growth, with shipments nearly increasing fivefold. Uzbekistan became a new export destination, where the company quickly grew from zero to 5000 tonnes, offering pollock and herring to the market.
China remains the main driver. It consistently accounts for approximately 35% of RFC’s export portfolio, and overall sales growth in this market was 17% in 2025. The surimi segment is growing even faster, up 60% year-on-year. RFC began shipping surimi to China in 2022, and by the end of 2025, a sixfold increase in volume was already being recorded.
In 2025, RFC’s share of the total Russian pollock catch in 2025 was approximately 20%, with a catch of over 412,000 tonnes. The new generation of ST-192 supertrawlers allow for processing up to 100% of the catch directly on board, reducing the share of raw material exports and increasing the sustainability of the business model.
The investment programme to renew the RFC fleet is actively underway. In 2025, the keels of the seventh and eighth ST-192 series supertrawlers were laid at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg, and in December, acceptance certificates were signed for two RFC supertrawlers – Kapitan Yunak and Mekhanik Shcherbakov. The shipyard is currently addressing issues and finalising equipment configuration, and the vessels are scheduled to begin fishing in 2026.
