In order to help countries strengthen their fisheries management, the development of more detailed, systematic and comparable information on fisheries environments and management trends is needed. FAO Fisheries Technical Paper 488/1, Review of the state of world marine capture fisheries management: Pacific Ocean, now available online, provides such information for 29 countries in the Pacific Ocean. The document includes trends in legal and administrative frameworks, management regimes and status of marine capture fisheries as an easy-to-read and informative reference for policy decision-makers, fishery managers and stakeholders.
This document is part of a suite of similar FAO reviews, including the alread-published Review of the state of world marine capture fisheries management: Indian Ocean and Review of the state of world marine fishery resources with forthcoming reviews of the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
