Four companies working within the Iceland Seafood Cluster have been recognised for their outstanding achievements in encouraging co-operation.
The Cluster has been active in Iceland for some years, located in a former net loft on the quayside of Reykjavík’s old harbour, and it brings together a host of very different companies – and what these have in common is that they are all involved in the fishing industry in one way or another.
Minister of Fisheries Kristján Thór Júlíusson presented awards for achievement to Navis, Evris, Iceland Sustainable Fisheries og Knarr Maritime.
Naval architect Navis has been been successful in boosting co-operation between high-tech companies in developing designs for environmentally-friendly fishing vessels, while Evris’s achievements are in the field of establishing integration between companies to participate in international research projects.
The commendation for Iceland Sustainable Fisheries is on the basis of its work in bringing together fishing companies in seafood certification.
Knarr Maritime was given its award for its work in encouraging co-operation between high-tech companies to provide turnkey fishing vessel options on the international market.
This is the fourth year that the Iceland Seafood Cluster awards these commendations, with the aim of encouraging co-operation and strengthening Iceland’s position as a leader in the seafood industry worldwide.
