Completed Cleopatra 50, Mayra-Lisa N-22, makes first catch

Mayra-Lisa N-22 made its first catch on August 23rd, the day before her official christening in Nieuwport. Icelandic company Trefjar completed the Mayra-Lisa N-22 for new owners, the company Rederij Dezutter. The company is operating from Nieuwpoort in Belgium run by father and son, Marc and Peter Dezutter, who ordered the new vessel from Trefjar after travelling to Iceland. Peter Dezutter is the skipper, and the Mayra-Lisa was named after two of Marc’s Dezutter’s grandchildren.

Fishing starts on summer spawning herring

HB Grandi's purse seiner/pelagic trawler Ingunn AK has been in port in Reykjavík preparing to start fishing on Icelandic summer spawning herring, and the crew were yesterday taking the ship's herring seine on board. There has been some uncertainty over this year's season and whether or not the stock would support a quota this autumn, but the fisheries minister has issued a 15,000 tonne initial quota, of which an 1800 tonne share falls to HB Grandi.
