The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), has announced the sale of the Small Craft Harbour site at Port Credit, in the City of Mississauga, Ontario to Canada Lands Company (CLC) Limited. The transaction involves approximately 27.6 hectares of land and water lot, commonly known as the Port Credit Harbour Marina.
Minister Shea said that the Government of Canada and Canada Lands Company both understand the value and importance of this facility to the local community. She added that this announcement is the last step in a long process of close cooperation between DFO and CLC. DFO is delighted to entrust this property to CLC, says Shea. Mark Laroche, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Lands Company, is pleased to announce the completion of the acquisition of this property.
He also said that they are looking forward to engaging with the municipality, community and other stakeholders, regarding the future of the property. The Village of Port Credit is unique in character and this should be considered in determining the future of this site. He added that there are no immediate plans for any changes that would affect any of the current tenants at the 1 Port Street site; nor are there any immediate plans for any changes that would affect the normal operations of the marina.
