Norwegian salmon exports registered new record in November when the value touched NOK 2.2 billion, NOK 41 million up on the previous record month of October this year. Compared to the same month last year, the value of exports has increased by NOK 498 million. Exports of processed Norwegian Salmon have increased more than exports of whole fish.
Market analyst Paul T. Aandahl from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council explressed that the growth in value is attributable to increased prices for Norwegian Salmon products combined with an increase in the volume of exports. He told that such result shows the demand for Norwegian Salmon in export markets is growing.
The export price for whole fresh Norwegian Salmon with head increased by an average of NOK 0.98 per kg in November compared to the previous month. The volume of exports of Norwegian Salmon products in November totalled 71,358 tonnes. It is told that the exports of processed Norwegian Salmon have increased more than exports of whole fish. The percentage of Norwegian Salmon exported as processed products in November increased in value from 18 to 23 percent.
It is reported that the exports of Norwegian Fjord Trout in November fell by NOK 36 million to NOK 162 million. The export volume in round weight fell by 2,218 tonnes to 6,418 tonnes. The fall is attributable to a reduction in exports of frozen Norwegian Fjord Trout. Exports of fresh products have not fallen compared to November last year.
