Norway’s fisheries minister Per Sandberg has stepped down, to be replaced by Harald Tom Nesvik.
Per Sandberg’s departure follows a growing list of misdemeanours culminating in an undeclared visit to Iran, after which the decision was taken by Erna Solberg’s government to no longer support him in the post of minister of fisheries.
His replacement is Harald Tom Nesvik, who has a twenty-year Parliamentary career behind him as Progress Party MP representing Møre and Romsdal, as well as a day job as a communications manager for wellboat operator Sølvtrans.
‘I’m from Sunnmøre, but I’ll be the fisheries minister for the whole country. It is an honour to be part of a ministry that is working on value creation across the country and along the coast. Now we will continue to work for further growth in the seafood industry, we will continue working with the government for cleaner seas, a good environment and sustainable growth,’ he said.
