It is found that the prices of bangus, tilapia, shellfish, and seaweeds have not changed a bit in Davao City. Rosella Mahusay, fish vendor at the Agdao Public Market for more than 30 years, informed that the aquaculture products usually do not increase during Holy Week even as demand for fish and other marine products is high.
According to Mahusay the prices of tilapia and bangus remain the same. The prices of bangus are now pegged at P90, P100, P110, and P120, depending on sizes, while tilapia costs P60-65 per kilogram. Roselyn Sepro, a vendor of shellfish and seaweeds, also confirmed that prices of such products are not expected to increase during Holy Week. Sepro told that only fishes especially from the municipal sources will increase because of the little supply.
Sepro said that the prices of shellfish range from P30 to P50 depending on sizes, while prices of seaweeds are now placed at P40 to P50 per kilogram. But it was monitored that the prices of tuna and malasugue are monitored to have increased by P10 and P30 per kilogram, respectively. Victor Granaderos, fish vendor, said the increase in the prices of these products started last week.
