This jointly owned sales company in Norway is a bid to strengthen the market orientation and focus on sales to end customers. The new sales company will be based in Bergen, while sales activities will also be maintained at Grieg Seafood in Alta, Finnmark and at Bremnes in Bomlo, Hordaland. It will be in operation from the fourth quarter of 2010
According to the press communiqué Grieg Seafood will hold 60 percent of the new sales company, while Bremnes Seashore will hold the remaining 40 percent. CEO Olav Svendsen Jr. in Bremnes Seashore, said that a larger sales volume, complementary harvest schedules and the ability to offer both whole fish and processed fish, means that the companies together will have a stronger position towards the market than they will have individually.
Arne Aarhus has been appointed new CEO of the sales company and will join on 1 September 2010. Aarhus is 35 years old and has a Master of Science in International Fisheries Management from the Norwegian College of Fisheries Science in Tromso, Norway. CEO Morten Vike in Grieg Seafood states, told that Arne Aarhus has a long and broad experience within the strategic customer and market segments and joins us from a leading sales position within Leroy Seafood Group. Aarhus said that integrating sales activities in Grieg Seafood and Bremnes Seashore and build a new sales company with high ambitions is exciting.
