The new tuna purse seiner built in Spain for French operator Compagnie Française Thon Océanique (CFTO) has been delivered to Concarneau.

Built at Astilleros de Murueta, the new Gevred has an overall length of 77 metres and a beam of 14 metres. Its main engine delivers 3920Kw and it has a 1400 cubic metre well capacity

Gevred and its sister vessel, Pendruc, due for delivery in May, are replacements for several older vessels that have already ben retired from the CFTO fleet that operates from Abidjan in Ivory Coast and from Port Victoria in the Seychelles.

Gevred is to be formally christened at Concarneau next week and will then undergo fishing trials with its Le Drezen purse seine before sailing for fishing grounds.
