According to the statement released by the company states that the new name is the trading name that all the UK salmon farming operations will operate. The statement added a process will be initiated to legally merge operating companies of the former Lakeland and Northern Isles Salmon groups.
The company said that Pål Angell-Hansen has been appointed as Head of Farming for Morpol’s global fish farming activities. He will be responsible for the salmon farming in UK and Norway, the company’s seabass/bream operations in Spain and cobia in Vietnam and Belize. Angell-Hansen was previously CFO of Marine Farms ASA and has extensive experience in the aquaculture industry.
Bjørn Myrseth, CEO of Marine Farms has agreed to continue with Morpol until the end of 2011 as advisor to the CEO and management on key strategic projects within the global Morpol group. Morpol Jerzy Malek said that they are excited to have Bjørn Myrseth and Pål Angell-Hansen on board and are confident that they will be a great resource to Morpol and to the farming operations in particular. He added that Bjørn Myrseth has unique knowledge and expertise gained from close to 40 years in the farming industry. Pål also has long experience in the sector and he has background as former analyst, investor and advisor in the seafood industry.
