Norwegian longline operator Ervik Havfiske has contracted Marin Teknikk to design a pair of new longliners.
The new Ervik freezer longliners will be 54 metre overall, 13 metre beam vessels capable of fishing for Patagonian toothfish in the Southern Ocean and designed for ice class operation.
Marin Teknikk has co-operated closely with Ervik Havfiske for more than twenty years to design its fishing vessels and sales director Richard K Gjerde said that it is satisfying to achieve a contract such as this in a competitive market.
‘We have worked closely with Ervik for years and feel we have developed good relationships and vessels with practical solutions that are specifically tailored to the different needs of Ervik Group,’ he said.
The two new longliners will be fitted with conventional and hybrid propulsion system and are to be built to carry crews of up to 28.
