Marit Hamre has been elected the new chairman of pelagic fishing association Pelagisk Forening. She is the general manager of the Krossfjord fishing company based at Steinsland in the Fjell municipality near Bergen and which operates pelagic vessel Krossfjord.
She joins Kristian Sandtorv, Torbjørn Vea, Ola Christian Olsen, Andreas Leine and Tor Bergtun on the Pelagisk Forening board.
According to deputy chairman Jonny Lokøy, Marit Hamre is taking over the leadership of a stable association, both in terms of members and influence.
‘There is no doubt that in the past year we have been listened to in a different way than before, especially when it comes to politics.
Director Mariann Frantsen is pleased with the new chairman and the recent meeting.
‘We had a lot of participation, many guests had signed up had some both good discussions and interesting opinions,’ she said, commenting that she looks forward to working with the new chairman and the rest of the board.
