After nineteen years at the head of the company, Friðrik Mar Guðmundsson is stepping down as CEO of east coast fishing company Loðnuvinnslan, and his place is being taken by Garðar Svavarsson.
A graduate in fisheries science, Garðar Svavarsson has been director of the pelagic division at Brim (formerly HB-Grandi) for the last ten years of his 24 years with the company, during which he has been instrumental in building up that side of Brim’s activities with new capacity.
Alongside the new role with Loðnuvinnslan, he takes over as director of its parent company Kaupfélag Fáskrúðsfirðinga.
With both pelagic and demersal fishing operations from the east coast port of Fáskrúðsfjörður, Loðnuvinnslan has been successful in recent years and 2022 was the best year in the company’s long history.
‘I’d like to that the staff and board for their confidence and support over the years. I’m proud of what we have achieved,’ said outgoing CEO Friðrik Mar Guðmundsson.
