Slippurinn Akureyri is installing a new catch-handling deck for seiner/trawler Hildur SH-777, designed to increase efficient processing of the catch on board.
The 33.25-metre, 9.40-metre breadth Hildur was acquired last year from Denmark and was built in 2019 as Pia Glanz. It replaces an older vessel operated by current owners Hraðfrystihús Hellissands in the west of Iceland, and plays a key role in providing the company with its raw material.

‘We’re expecting to see an increase in catch handling efficiency on board and greater productivity. The co-operation with Slippurinn Akureyri has been excellent and we’re looking forward to starting fishng with the new equipment,’ said the company’s operations manager Örvar Ólafsson.
He commented that this investment in catch-handling technology is in line with the company’s policies on responsible exploitation of resources and efficient operation.
‘Manufacturing the equipment has gone well and we aim to have Hildur ready for sea before Easter,’ said Slippurinn Akureyri’s processing systems division manager Magnús Blöndal.
‘Staff at Hraðfrystihús Hellissands have provided plenty of useful input to the design process that makes a real difference as we approach the completion of this installation.’
