A new demersal trawl door design – Champion – has been trialled extensively by French and Spanish skippers, and Morgère is now ready to start promoting it.
Morgère’s managing director Pascal Reverseau describes the new Champion doors as being among the most powerful demersal on the market, providing excellent spread, good fuel economy and ease of operation.
‘Champion is an exciting new concept in trawl door manufacture, and we are thrilled that it has performed so well during fishing operations. This is a door that offers many benefits – and skippers particularly like its ease of operation, which is particularly important when fishing in challenging sea conditions,’ he said, adding that skippers fishing with these new doors have been delighted by the performance, praising its stable operation and simplicity in use and setting up.
Despite having only recently been launched onto the market, several sets of Champion doors have already been sold to trawlers in Spain and France, and other sets are in production.
The design has been caried out in-house by Morgère’s specialist engineers, who came up with a fishtail configuration at the door’s provides trailing edge and this provides excellent stability, while the lift generated by the doors enables a reduced surface area that benefits fuel consumption.
The size and weight of the Champion doors is customisable, making it idea for trawlers in every size bracket.
‘The inherent stability of the door ensures it is suitable for any type of demersal fishery around the world,’ Pascal Reverseau said.
‘Innovation and new product development are at the heart of the Morgère operation, and the Champion trawl door provides the perfect complement to our existing range of high performing doors, including the Exocet New and Osprey New trawl door models.’
Morgère will be promoting the new Champion trawl door at the forthcoming DanFish International 2023 event in Aalborg (10-12th October) and at Itechmer in Lorient (11-13th October).
