According to the National Agro-forestry and Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (Nafiqad) it is speeding up formalities for 30 enterprises eligible to export to the EU market. It is no denying fact that the demand of cheap Asian seafood products is high in European markets.
More and more seafood companies of Asian countries are findings way to enter EU market as it has huge potential. Currently, Vietnam ranks second in the world in terms of the number of seafood enterprises (301), which have been officially approved to export to this huge market. Deputy minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Luong Le Phuong has said to increase seafood exports to the EU market and for this he asked Nafiqad to work closely with the Department of Aquatic Resources Exploitation and Protection to zone off farming areas meeting the EU requirements.
But the quality maintenance is most important factor in this because last time the ban was put on due to the failing of quality. Phuong warned that licensed enterprises will be refused if they fail to pass quality and hygiene tests. Nafiqad told that an inspection team from the EU has concluded its examination of the quality of Vietnamese enterprises’ aquatic exports. As the results, the EU acknowledged efforts made by Vietnamese enterprises in improving seafood safety and hygiene standards under EU regulations.
