Nigel Tupper is said to have a catch of four carp over 20lb and a further four doubles at Barnmoor Lake. It is told that Nigel’s superb haul was topped by one of 22lb 14oz and he also landed one of 21lb 4oz, another at 20lb 8oz and a fourth at 20lb 4oz, rounding off his session with four others all between 15lb and 20lb.
Nigel’s haul is said one of the best carp hauls from Witherington for a long time. On Monday, Richard Pearce fished Barnmoor Lake and he had a carp of 23lb 8oz. Big carp have been caught from other fisheries as well, one of the biggest from Bascombe Lake, near Ringwood, at 36lb. Hucklesbrook Lake, near Fordingbridge, is producing carp to 28lb but also superb crucian carp to just under 4lb and tench to 8lb. B
Kim Tyler’s last cast of the day on Abbots Lake, at Waldens Farm Fishery, produced her best carp to date and the fishery’s best of the week, when she banked a 19lb ghost carp. It was one of several doubles to come out of both Abbots and Bishops Lake. Monks Lake is fishing well for crucians, bream and tench. Popes Lake is producing mirror and ghost carp into double figures, as well as bream and roach, while Deacons Lake is fishing well for chub, with fish between 3lb and 4lb 8oz. A big eel at 4lb 3oz was also caught by Dave Alcock when he fished prawn under a waggler.
